What to Plant in May

As we hit the middle of this month, it is now a good time to start thinking about what shrubs, container trees, or roses your yard/garden need! Luckily, Southdale has a wide variety of shrubs, rose bushes, and container trees to choose from! Stop down to see our selection and choose something that will fit your garden just right.

Another thing to start considering is planting grass seed for those bare spots in your lawn or starting over with sod! Now is the time to get your grass started.

Lastly, start to divide those perennials that bloom in late summer or early fall. That would include plants like Nippon Daisy, Goldenrod, Joe Pye Weed, Helenium, Chrysanthemum, Aster, Balloon Flower, Sedum, etc. If you don’t know what dividing perennials means, it is essentially turning one plant into multiple. That will help the plant perform better by giving more space to the roots to be able to absorb more nutrients and water.
